## Postdoctoral fellow (2 years) in the “gamma-ray astrophysics” group

by - 23 February 2018

The LPNHE (Laboratoire de Physique Nucléaire et des Hautes Energies) is a laboratory of the IN2P3 (Institut National de Physique Nucléaire et de Physique des Particules) of the CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique), located on the Jussieu campus in Paris (France). The activities of LPNHE are centred on particle physics, astroparticle physics and cosmology. The gamma-ray astrophysics team at LPNHE is working on indirect search for dark matter, on tests of Lorentz invariance as well as on astrophysics of extragalactic sources using the data of the H.E.S.S. (High Energy Stereoscopic System) experiment, located in Namibia. The group is also involved in CTA hardware (in particular through the NectarCAM project) and science preparation.

The successful applicant, who should hold a PhD in astrophysics or astroparticle physics, will work within the CTA consortium, with a special focus on calibration tests and validation for the proposed NectarCAM design. He/She will also contribute to the implementation of analysis science tools being developed for CTA. In addition, he/she will have the opportunity to participate in temporal analyses of several types of sources (flaring AGN, pulsar, GRB) for the search of propagation or source intrinsic effects. In particular, the applicant could contribute to an ongoing collaborative effort amongst H.E.S.S., MAGIC and VERITAS collaborations to combine all available results of Lorentz Invariance Violation searches. Experience in data analysis in astroparticle physics or high energy physics is expected.

The contract period is 2 year long and will start after November 1, 2018. Applicants should hold a PhD with less than 2 years of professional experience after the PhD. Applications should include a CV, list of publications and a research statement, to be addressed to Dr. Jean-Philippe Lenain and Dr. Julien Bolmont. The candidates should arrange for three reference letters to be sent directly.

The deadline for applications is 31/05/2018.
